Navigating The Kryptografima

Updated: May 18, 2023

The Kryptografima is an exciting world, filled with twists and turns, puzzles and mazes… no wonder it’s easy to get lost! In this article we dive into The Kryptografima and all there is to explore in conjunction with Marco the Great and the History of Numberville.

What is The Kryptografima?

Officially, The Kryptografima is the premier learning institute of the SAN. What is the SAN? We can’t tell you that (Spoilers!). What we can share is that students will be introduced to the SAN as they read through the fantastical novel, Marco the Great and the History of Numberville. With The Kryptografima students have the chance to bring the pages alive by becoming a student of the SAN, taking part in courses, puzzles, and challenges, and learning more about this secretive group that has entered Marco’s life.

The Kryptografima is an entire virtual world for students to explore and enjoy! However, they’ll need their supplies to get started. Make sure to pick up your copy of Marco the Great and the History of Numberville before you join.

As students read, they will be guided to the course and unit within The Kryptografima that corresponds to the topics covered. We recommend students read, then play, then read... to get the most out of the experience. To ensure readers are building a strong foundation and deep understanding, it is best to complete the digital activities alongside the book, rather than attempting the online portion only or completing the online component after finishing the text.

School Grounds

While The Kryptografima offers 6 online courses that correspond to the topics covered in Marco the Great and the History of Numberville, the fun doesn’t stop there! The Kryptografima offers a rich virtual school grounds for students to play, learn, and have fun!

The Student Commons is the school hub. Here, students can find descriptions and links to each area within the school.

The All Saints Tribune

The All Saints Tribune is a bi-monthly periodical from SAN. Students of The Kryptografima have unlimited access to both current and past editions. They can: stay in the know with what is happening in the House of Clerics, learn about their fellow Saints in the Member Spotlight, stay updated on the last Vinculum Game tournament, or browse the opinion submissions and classifieds. The All Saints Tribune also has a lively entertainment section that includes comics, a special crossword puzzle, and a Kryptolex.

Find My Tribe

What brings together students of The Kryptografima? Their tribes! Tribes are determined by a complex algorithm that identifies what number set a student most relates to. Are you an Interceptor: like the Integers strong and unwavering, where it all started, a chosen one? Or are you a member of the Quantum tribe: lovers of order and builders but known to be a bit rowdy? In The Kryptografima you can find your people… and your numbers! We are currently developing a more robust tribe area with games unique to each tribe and opportunities to connect with other like-minded Saints (with parent permission of course).

The Vinculum Games

This is a sport unique to the Numberfolk that led to the disastrous 53rd games (you’ll have to read past chapter 15 to learn more). Not only can students read about the latest match-up, they can become captain of their own Vinculum team and play in regular or tournament mode. There is even a two-player option if parents or siblings want to join in the fun!

The Puzzler

Quigly Cantor is a mastermind in creating twisty and mind-bending puzzles! Students can test their knowledge to see if they can escape his current mystery! As of the date of this post, Cantor’s puzzler is currently a labyrinth to escape where students will encounter quirky characters and must help solve their problems to gain their freedom. For instance, one path will lead students to be kidnapped by a rabbit who already has a snake and a frog in his lair. Can you figure out what color hat you are wearing before the rabbit cuts off your head? Plus, Cantor’s puzzler is a choose your own adventure! Try different paths, meet new characters, all while testing your logic and number skills to escape!

Dorm Room

Of course students need a place to decompress and just relax! Why not head over to their virtual dorm room? There, they can brush up on their basic skills with quick operation games, or create one or more plans for their studies. With our timeline generator, students can add in major steps (like "finish Chapter 5" or "clean my room" or "play with my sister"), include their goals, and make a plan to achieve them! They can download, print, or save their plan and make notes on their progress. At the end of their timeline, they can return and rate each step or goal to look over all they have accomplished. Print it out to document your student’s achievements!
